The Booklet

In January 2008, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) published an informational booklet entitled, “CME as a Bridge to Quality: Leadership, Learning, and Change within the ACCME® System” as a resource for the CME system and its stakeholders.

The 22-page booklet encapsulates the essential philosophy and practice of the ACCME in its mission to ensure that continuing medical education (CME) is a strategic asset that improves US healthcare. ACCME President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Murray Kopelow remarks, “we intend for this booklet to be an essential resource that our nationally-accredited providers, state-accredited providers, and volunteers can use to help their stakeholders understand the importance of CME to an organization’s healthcare mission.”

The booklet is available for download in printable Adobe Acrobat® PDF format here.

Call a Meeting with Your CME Stakeholders

In order to support CME providers as they communicate the essential role that accredited CME can provide to improve patient care, the ACCME has also provided the “CME as a Bridge to Quality” content in the form of a Microsoft PowerPoint™ slide presentation that may be customized for the needs of individual organizations. To download the PowerPoint presentation, click here and choose the option to save the file to your computer.

Share Your Successes

The ACCME is interested in hearing providers’ and state-accreditors’ strategies and results from “calling a meeting” with CME stakeholders. Please feel free to share a story about your experiences by sending an email to Dr. Steve Singer at ssinger@accme.org.
