CONTENT TAGGING FOR REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS IN PARS — FIRST STEPS
As part of the feedback on making PARS and data entry more streamlined, accredited providers have asked us to identify simple ways for learners to find accredited continuing medical education that meets their regulatory requirements. That education is often required for relicensure, credentialling, or other regulatory permissions such as the recently announced Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act.
Since accredited CME is reported through PARS and then made available to physicians through CME Passport, it makes sense to find technical solutions to better identify and promote such valuable education. We are implementing a stepwise approach that will ultimately allow content to be tagged and searched by utilizing activity titles and content descriptions. Until that process can be fully automated, utilizing solutions like AI, we have enabled an optional new feature that allows accredited providers to tag activities for physicians with pain management-related state medical board licensing requirements. In the future, our goal is to support tagging against the broad range of content-specific state licensing requirements. Once the content is tagged, the education will be more easily searchable and identifiable by physicians licensed in different states.
Currently, you can access this optional feature via the web form in PARS. We will announce the availability of these features via Excel batch upload and web services in the coming weeks and will offer small-group webinars soon to guide you through the process. Please explore these new features to see if they are relevant to your accredited education.
As always, we welcome your feedback. Contact us at info@accme.org.
REMINDER: ABS CONTINUOUS CERTIFICATION ASSESSMENT REGISTRATION APPROACHING
As the registration period for the 2024 American Board of Surgery (ABS) Continuous Certification Assessment (CCA) approaches, accredited providers may receive a higher volume of requests from learners for CME credits to be reported into ACCME’s Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS). Registration began Aug. 1, 2024. The 2024 CCA window runs from Aug. 26 – Nov. 4, 2024. ACCME offers a variety of resources to help you report learner credits for ABS. Still have questions? We’re happy to help! Contact us at info@accme.org.
