Join us for Learn to Thrive PLUS, ACCME’s new virtual gathering for the accredited CE community! We invite you to join the conversation that began at ACCME’s in-person annual meeting in May and connect virtually to network and share:
• The most beneficial strategies and resources from the Chicago meeting, including ready-to-use tools for your CE program.
• How the Learn to Thrive 2023 Working Groups are developing solutions to help solve common challenges for our education community.
• How ACCME can assist accredited providers in sharing learner credit data for CME for MOC and Licensure.
Learn to Thrive PLUS will not be a recap of the Chicago meeting, but instead an opportunity to consider how, as a community, we can transform the key takeaways from that convening to benefit continuing healthcare education.
Learn to Thrive PLUS will take place online only on October 24 from 10 am – 3:45 pm CT. Registration will be open until 5:00 pm CT on Friday, October 20, 2023.
EXPLORE THE 2022 ACCME DATA REPORT
We are pleased to release the ACCME Data Report: Renewal and Growth in Accredited Continuing Education – 2022, which includes data from our community of 1,620 accredited organizations that offer physicians, other healthcare professionals, and healthcare teams an array of continuing education resources to promote high-quality, safe, and effective care for patients.
In 2022, our community of educators continued to evolve to meet changing needs and facilitated a re-introduction of clinicians to each other, their educational homes, and their own learning in a post-pandemic world.

COMING SOON: ABOS AND ACCME COLLABORATION
ACCME is happy to share that the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) has joined the CME for MOC Collaboration to allow digital reporting of CME and maintenance of certification (MOC) credits for orthopaedic surgeons, with a targeted launch date of early October 2023. The collaboration with the ABOS is one of several that ACCME has with many other boards who use this system for hundreds of thousands of doctors nationally and is designed to be quick and easy to use. Watch this brief video for an overview of the digital hub for CME credit data.
COPY ACTIVITY FUNCTION NOW AVAILABLE IN PARS
After hearing feedback from our community, ACCME is happy to announce that the “copy activity” function is now available in the Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS).
You can copy an existing activity from your activity summary by hovering over the activity card and clicking the copy button.
You can also copy an existing activity from the activity detail view.
In both cases, once you click Copy you will be brought into the manual “add” activity flow. Just like with the old copy function, some fields are copied, and some are not. To learn more about which fields are copied and which aren’t, check out the Copy Activity Guide.

EXPLORE ACCME’S DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION VOLUNTEER SURVEY
ACCME relies on its community of dedicated volunteers to sustain a high-quality, self-regulated CME system that advances clinician performance and patient care. In line with ACCME’s strategic goal to promote diversity and inclusion by creating and supporting a culture of mutual respect, inclusivity, and equity, the ACCME conducted a survey to better understand the demographics of our volunteer community.
The survey was sent to four volunteer groups – the ACCME Board of Directors, Accreditation Review Committee (ARC), Committee for Review and Recognition (CRR), and accreditation surveyors.

Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education™ is hosting its annual Getting Started with Joint Accreditation Workshop virtually on Thursday, September 28, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm CT. This workshop is a great opportunity for organizations who regularly plan and deliver Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) and are in the initial stages of exploring Joint Accreditation as well as those organizations who have begun the process of applying for Joint Accreditation. TIPS FOR APPLYING ACCME’S LEARNING FROM TEACHING REQUIREMENTS
Learning from Teaching is a type of CME activity, designed and implemented by the learner, that recognizes the learning that occurs as physicians prepare to teach. To benefit accredited providers and learners, we created a list of simple approaches for applying the accreditation requirements to learning from teaching CME activities, including:

NOW AVAILABLE: AMERICAN BOARD OF ANESTHESIOLOGY HIGH PRIORITY TOPICS REPORT
The American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) has released a new High Priority Topics Report for Q1-2 2023, which offers insight into planning CME for board-certified anesthesiologists to develop and maintain their knowledge and skillset. Report contents are informed by anesthesiologists’ continuing certification program performance, rather than survey responses. Consider leveraging performance data from the ABA’s High Priority Topics Reports as you plan your next CME activity.
JOURNAL ARTICLE: PAVING THE WAY FORWARD FOR EVIDENCE-BASED CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
In an article published in the Journal of Continuing Education in the Health Professions, “Paving the Way Forward for Evidence-Based Continuing Professional Development,” co-author Graham McMahon, MD, MMSc, President and CEO, ACCME, discusses the development approach and key recommendations within the CE Educator’s toolkit. The toolkit was created to evolve continuing professional development (CPD) practice and create a learning experience that promotes self-reflection, competency, and behavioral change.
