Coming this July: ACCME and the American Board of Preventive Medicine Collaborate to Streamline Diplomate CME/CCP Credit Reporting

ACCME is happy to announce that the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) has joined the CME for MOC/CC Collaboration to allow digital reporting of CME and Continuous Certification Program (CCP) credits.

The collaboration with the ABPM is one of several that ACCME has with ABMS Member Boards who use this system for hundreds of thousands of diplomates and is designed to be quick and easy to use. Watch this brief video for an overview of how the digital hub for CME credit data works.

Through this collaboration, ABPM diplomates will be able to search for eligible activities using CME Passport, ACCME’s national CME search and reporting platform. When your organization registers eligible activities in PARS/JA-PARS and reports learner completion data, diplomates can more easily identify activities that meet their needs and have their CME credit applied toward ABPM CCP requirements.

Once the collaboration is launched in July, accredited providers can take the following steps:

  1. Review the updated ACCME CME for CC/MOC guide and confirm that your upcoming CME activities meet ABPM CCP requirements.
  2. Identify the ABPM practice area or areas addressed by each activity.

ABPM CCP Practice Areas

All/General
Addiction Medicine
Aerospace Medicine
Clinical Informatics
Disaster Medicine
Health Care Administration, Leadership, and Management
Lifestyle Medicine
Medical Toxicology
Occupational and Environmental Medicine
Public Health and General Preventive Medicine
Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine

3. Identify the ABPM CCP credit type or types each activity will offer.

ABPM CCP Credit Types

Accredited CME
Self-Assessment
Improving Health and Health Care
Patient Safety

Please note that ABPM’s CCP accepts all accredited CME for a portion of its CME requirement.

4. Log in to PARS/JA-PARS to register the activity for ABPM credit so it can be discoverable by diplomates through CME Passport.

5. After the activity is complete, use PARS/JA-PARS to report the credits awarded to learners so those credits can count toward their ABPM CCP requirements.

An instruction set for educational providers on getting started to use the system are available here. Detailed technical instructions for implementing web services, XML batch, or Excel batch reporting can be found here.

We are grateful for your support and cooperation in our mutual efforts to streamline CME/CCP reporting requirements and create an evolved ecosystem for ABPM diplomates. As always, any questions can be sent to info@accme.org
