The provider partnered with a statewide health alliance and a state hospital association to implement the Choosing Wisely campaign to help patients and their healthcare providers choose care that is supported by evidence, not duplicative, not harmful, and truly necessary. The provider held two summits and multiple live webinars to support quality improvement across the state. At the summits, learners were given tool kits and resources to use in support of the implementation of Choosing Wisely measures. These resources were also provided online. Physician leadership from across the state were accountable within their organizations to implement the quality improvement strategies. Data about community health were collected from hospitals across the state, including rates of prescribing antibiotics for upper respiratory infections, rates of Pap tests, and prescribing opioid medication for lower back pain. The data reports showed improvement in a variety of these measures.
