NEW PUBLICATION ON VALUE OF ACCREDITED CME/CPD
The Journal of CME has published an article by ACCME President and CEO Graham McMahon, MD, MMSc, titled, “Accredited Continuing Medical Education Delivers: Evidence of Value, Trust, and Impact Across the Healthcare System.”
The article highlights compelling evidence that accredited continuing medical education and continuing professional development (CME/CPD) deliver measurable value across the healthcare system. Drawing on recent ACCME data, the 2025 CPD/CE Workforce Survey, and outcomes from the Commendation Criteria, the article shows how accredited CME/CPD enhances clinician performance, strengthens teamwork, and drives adoption of new science. Far beyond a compliance requirement, accredited CME/CPD is presented as an ethical, scalable infrastructure that advances quality, safety, and efficiency—demonstrating that education, when structured and protected by accreditation, is a cornerstone of healthcare value and public trust.
PODCASTS

New Podcast: Designing for Learning: Cognitive Science at the Bedside and Beyond —A Conversation with Dr. Nidhi Sachdeva (Part 1)
In the latest episode of Coffee with Graham, ACCME President and CEO Dr. Graham McMahon sits down with Dr. Nidhi Sachdeva, cognitive scientist and educator at the University of Toronto, for a thought-provoking discussion about what it really takes to make learning last. Drawing on research in cognitive science, Dr. Sachdeva shares practical insights for educators about designing instruction that strengthens memory, encourages reflection, and transforms understanding into performance.
Together, they explore how to move beyond the illusion of learning, manage cognitive load, use microlearning effectively, and embrace AI as a tool—not a substitute—for critical thinking. Tune in for Part 1 of their conversation to hear how these principles can help continuing education professionals create experiences that truly improve performance and patient care.
