NEW GUIDANCE: RESPONSIBLE USE OF AI IN ACCREDITED CE

The ACCME has released new Guidance on the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Accredited Continuing Education (CE) to support providers as they integrate emerging AI tools into the planning, delivery, and evaluation of education. The guidance highlights AI’s potential to enhance educational design and efficiency—while emphasizing the importance of safeguarding content integrity, learner trust, and patient confidentiality.

The guidance has also been released by Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education™ and is expected to be shared by other colleague accreditors in the near future.

We encourage accredited providers to review the guidance and share it with CME/CE teams, faculty, and institutional leaders as they develop or refine their own AI policies and practices.

REMINDERS

2026 ANNUAL ACCREDITATION FEES

Invoices for annual accreditation fees were sent last month to ACCME-accredited providers as well as those accredited by the California Medical Association and Massachusetts Medical Society (at the request of those state medical societies). Payment must be received by Monday, February 2, 2026, to avoid late fees. The 2026–2027 ACCME-accredited provider fee schedule is posted here.

The annual accreditation fee enables the ACCME to uphold our mission, maintaining standards that assure and advance quality and supporting educators and clinicians in using CME to improve patient care. The timely submission of the annual accreditation fee is required to maintain your organization’s accreditation status.

If your organization is accredited by the ACCME or one of the state medical societies listed above and you did not receive an invoice, please contact ACCMEbilling@accme.org. If your organization is accredited by a state medical society not listed above, please contact your accreditor.

MOC LEARNER-COMPLETION DEADLINES

As we near the end of 2025, please note that all certifying boards have year-end reporting requirements for their physicians. To best support your physician learners, please enter their CME for MOC completion data for 2025 in PARS by the deadlines listed below, and remember, PARS is always open!  We encourage you to report learner data into PARS on an ongoing basis as physicians complete activities, preferably within 30 days of the learner completing the activity and evaluation.

Learner completion data should be submitted to PARS by December 31, 2025, for the following certifying boards:

  • American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
  • American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
  • American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS)
  • American Board of Pathology (ABPath)
  • American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS)
  • American Board of Surgery (ABS)

RECOGNITION

CELEBRATING OUR INNOVATION PARTNERS

We’re proud to recognize the organizations that are partnering with ACCME to advance our shared mission to reduce administrative burdens and support meaningful, lifelong learning for physicians. As Innovation Partners, these providers are leading efforts to simplify learner data reporting, enhance the learner experience, and promote the use of CME Passport.

Each Innovation Partner brings a unique perspective and commitment to advancing high-quality, learner-centered education. In this issue, we’re spotlighting the following Innovation Partners who share how their participation benefits their physician learners:

Physicians’ Education Resource: “As an ACCME Innovation Partner, PER enhances CME with cutting-edge strategies and ensures physician learners’ credits are automatically uploaded to ACCME for seamless state board reporting saving time and improving educational impact.”

Postgraduate Institute for Medicine: “PIM focuses 100% on Joint Providership certifying 3000+ activities annually. Our services allow thousands of physician learners completing education through our partners to consolidate their earned credit in their CME Passport record.”

Pri-Med Institute: “As an ACCME Innovation Partner, we can contribute to a more seamless credentialing experience and reduce the reporting burden our physician learners face. This means less time on paperwork, so our learners can focus on providing exceptional patient care.”

Projects in Knowledge: “As an Innovation Partner, we aim to achieve: full physician learner reporting, speedier and smoother data reporting, and improved and smart JA-PARS processing/MOC processing.”

Society of Critical Care Medicine: “Enhances our ability to support physician learners, streamlines our reporting processes, and strengthens our technological infrastructure through improved system integrations. These enhancements will significantly increase the value we deliver to our learners and the broader critical care community.”
