We are pleased to announce the first-of-its-kind CPD/CE Workforce Survey—a collaborative effort of the ACCME, Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education (Joint Accreditation), State Medical Society Recognized Accreditors, the Alliance for Continuing Education of the Health Professions (ACEHP), the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education (SACME), and the Department of Medical Education at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (UIC).
The survey will open in mid-February.
The purpose of the survey is to help us better understand and support our accredited CPD/CE community. Your participation is greatly appreciated and will be critical for preparing the CPD/CE community for greater success.
“There has never been an in-depth survey that attempted to provide such a comprehensive description of the accredited CPD/CE workforce,” said Marc Jackson of the Southern States CME Collaborative and a member of the workforce survey advisory committee. “This survey is designed to do that. With a clear understanding of who we are, the ACCME will be able to meet our needs better in terms of education, training, and support. That’s why it’s critical for all of us—regardless of whether we are ACCME-accredited, jointly accredited, or State Medical Society-accredited—to complete this survey.”
A research team at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) will be conducting the survey of all CPD/CE programs accredited by the ACCME, State Medical Society (SMS) Recognized Accreditors, and Joint Accreditation. The survey’s objectives are:
- To identify current CPD/CE unit staffing characteristics and staffing trends;
- To provide benchmark data to assist accredited providers with determining effective staffing models;
- To correlate CPD/CE staffing models with provider type, size, accreditor, type and number of activities/learners, and any other useful characteristics for the benefit of the providers and the organizations that accredit and/or support them in the provision of CPD/CE.
The UIC team is managing the administration of the survey and data analysis. Your answers will be anonymous.
“Be assured that the ACCME will not know how we answer this survey,” added Jackson. “All of the survey data will go to the research team at the UIC, where they will remove our identities and assign our answers a random ID number. The ACCME will never be able to link our identities or those of our programs to our answers.”
Thank you again for helping support our community. Your participation helps us better understand the accredited CPD/CE workforce and empowers us to better inform CPD/CE units about staffing models and resources that will set them up for success.
