The ACCME and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada have collaborated to enable Royal College Fellows to earn Section 3 credits by participating in accredited CME that counts for MOC. Royal College Fellows will be able to report participation in accredited CME activities that are available on or after November 1, 2019.
How it Works
Royal College Fellows can report participation in activities registered for MOC that include the expectation that the learner engages in the evaluation component. Activities that are available on or after November 1, 2019 until December 31, 2025 are eligible. The Royal College will recognize these activities as meeting the requirements for MOC Program Section 3 credits.
This process is automatic. You do not need to take any additional steps in PARS. Royal College Fellows are responsible for reporting their participation to the Royal College. You do not need to collect or report participation data from Royal College Fellows.
Please note that the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada’s MOC Program is distinct from the MOC programs of the US certifying boards, and the Royal College is not a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Although the values and goals of the programs are similar, there are differences in terminology and requirements.
Recognition Statement
You may use this recognition statement with any activity that you register for MOC. Use of the recognition statement is optional.
Through an agreement between the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, medical practitioners participating in the Royal College MOC Program may record completion of accredited activities registered under the ACCME’s “CME in Support of MOC” program in Section 3 of the Royal College’s MOC Program.
Finding CME that Counts for Royal College MOC
Royal College Fellows can visit CME Passport and search for activities registered for MOC for one or more of the certifying boards. Any of these activities will count for Royal College MOC Section 3.
