The provider surveyed learners who participated in an ultrasound skills training course on whether they had implemented ultrasound for diagnostic evaluations and procedures in the Emergency Department (ED) 3 months post-activity. The provider reported that 11 of 14 learners that completed the survey indicated that they had increased their use of ultrasound in the ED, ranging from a 29% increase in pregnancy to a 93% increase in abdominal. The second example was a performance improvement activity to address the tapering of benzodiazepines. The provider showed that 8 of 11 learners whose prescribing data for benzodiazepines was measured demonstrated improvement in lowering the effective dose given to elderly patients.
