State Medical Societies
We collaborate with our colleagues at US state and territory medical societies to facilitate the accreditation of local CME providers and support community-based CME for clinicians.
Framework of Equivalency
Using a framework of equivalency, we recognize state and territory medical societies as accreditors of CME providers that focus on serving learners in their own state or contiguous states, such as community hospitals, state specialty societies, and county medical societies.
Standards
ACCME Recognized Accreditors use the ACCME accreditation rules and an equivalent decision-making process to evaluate CME providers. This approach ensures that all CME providers in our system, whether they are ACCME-accredited or state-accredited, are held to the same high standards for educational excellence and independence.
Resources
We offer a variety of educational resources and support services for Recognized Accreditors, including monthly webinars, an annual leadership conference, and professional development training for new accreditation staff and state volunteers. ACCME staff members make presentations at educational meetings hosted by Recognized Accreditors, offer training for state accreditation committee members, and provide one-on-one consultations to state medical society staff and their leadership.
