ACCME Joins Alliance Events to Address CPD Environment, IPE, and QI
The ACCME participated in several events convened by the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (ACEhp). Upon invitation, Graham McMahon, MD, MMSc, President and CEO, ACCME, and Kate Regnier, MA, MBA, Executive Vice President, ACCME, attended the September meeting of the ACEhp Board of Directors. They took part in discussions about the landscape of CME, interprofessional education, and the value of continuing professional development within the healthcare system.
Ms. Regnier participated in a panel discussion about integrating quality improvement education across the medical education continuum at the 2015 Alliance Quality Symposium in September. She described how the Accreditation Criteria support the engagement of CME with QI and presented data showing that two-thirds of CME providers integrate CME into the process of improving professional practice and participate within an institutional or system framework for quality improvement. She was joined by panelists from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
