Criterion 7: #7051

Finding
Noncompliance

The provider did not have evidence of consistently implementing a mechanism to resolve conflicts of interest when persons in control of content reported relevant financial relationships. The only evidence provided was an attestation form signed by the speaker/planner/staff at the time of the disclosure to the provider that stated, “I will ensure that any financial relationship that I have with a commercial interest will not affect the recommendations I make about clinical care.”

Rationale: The ACCME expects that providers will take action prior to planning or delivery of educational content to resolve conflicts of interest. Individuals with the conflict of interest may be involved in the resolution, but cannot be solely responsible.
